Picking seashells is an excellent way to enjoy a little bit of fun in the sun – and we’ve found a great way to extend that excitement even once the beach trip is over! Just follow the steps below and learn how you and your little ones can turn simple shells into cherished keepsakes.

Step 1: Gather your materials. You will need:

  • 4 small seashells
  • Green and red acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • 2 googly eyes for each shell
  • Lime green foam sheets
  • Red pipe cleaners cut into 2-inch sections
  • 1 printed template: (Click Here)

Step 2: Begin by painting each shell with either your green or red paint. While the shells dry, use the template you printed to trace turtle shapes and cut them out of foam sheets. Once the shells have dried, use your glue stick to apply a foam turtle body to each of your green shells.

Step 3: Glue 3 pipe cleaners to each side of your red shells to create legs. Finish your sea creatures by gluing two googly eyes onto the front of each red shell and the head of each green turtle.

Step 4: Once the glue has dried, you and your child are ready to create your very own undersea adventures! Bring these critters to the sandbox, dress up your garden, or simply keep them as shell pets on your windowsill!
