Materials

  • Ribbons
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Glitter
  • Craft foam
  • Juicy Juice boxes (empty, clean and dry)
  • String
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Tape
  • Pencil

Step One
Gather your materials.

Step Two
Paint your Juicy Juice boxes. You may need more than one coat of paint. Once the paint has dried, add on your details. You can use glitter and glue or paint and a slimmer paint brush. Use whatever patterns you like!

Step Three
After decorating your juice boxes, set them to dry. Then, get your craft foam. Cut your craft foam into circles with two to three-inch radiuses. You can use a pencil and string or compass to draw a perfect circle. Then, mark the center of the circle with a pencil and cut a line to that mark. Take one flap and layer it over the other flap to make a cone shape. Adults will need to help with this next part. Holding the cone carefully, staple the flaps into place, avoiding the top of the cone. You will only need 1-2 staples for each cone, so the staples don’t need to be too obvious. After stapling the cones, you can decorate them! We chose some pretty fun patterns, and you can choose any pattern you like.

Step Four
After decorating the cones, you will need to decorate your Juicy Juice box with ribbons. For each box, cut several ribbons 1-2 feet long and knot them in the middle.

Step Five
Next, make a diagonal cut into the top of your Juicy Juice box. Once you have made the cut, tuck the knot of the strings into the cut. Leave the ends of the strings outside the Juicy Juice box. Then, seal up the cut with tape.

Step Six
Once you decorate the top of the juice box, move to the bottom. Cut a plain string about 2-3 feet long. Make a small hole in the bottom of the box, and make a knot in the end of your string. Then, insert the knot into the hole you just created. You can seal this hole too. Don’t worry about the seal being too obvious; this end will get covered. After you’ve inserted the string, run the other end of the same string through the top of the cone you will use for this lantern. Pull the cone down the string so it sits on top of the juice box.

Step Seven
You are finished with your lantern! Go ahead and find a great place to hang it. All of us at Juicy Juice wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July! Don’t forget to share pictures of your lanterns with us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter!
