Even if your little one depends on a trusty nightlight, this delightful craft will give a great reason to look forward to the dark! All it takes is glow-in-the-dark paint and a few supplies you may have lying around the house to create a wonderful bit of nighttime joy.
Materials:
- Glow-in-the-dark paint
- 3 traditional paints
- Paper bowls and plates
- Googly eyes
- A ball of white string
- Scissors
- Tape
- A clothes hanger
- Parchment paper
Step 1.
Place some of each traditional paint color onto a paper plate.
Step 2.
Add some of the glow-in-the-dark paint into each color, then blend them together with your brush.
Step 3.
Flip your bowls upside-down and paint them with one solid color.
Step 4.
Cut sections of string, each around four feet long (parent assistance is recommended). You’ll need at least two pieces for each jellyfish you want to create.
Step 5.
Loop each piece of string over a coat hanger to create equal-length sections of string. Place the coat hanger onto a piece of parchment paper and paint each section of string completely with a single color.
Step 6.
Use different shades to paint the remaining sections of string.
Step 7.
Hang your clothes hanger up until each piece of string is completely dry.
Step 8.
Once your bowls have dried, use a little bit of glow-in-the-dark paint to add some fun dots on top.
Step 9.
Use your scissors to poke a small hole in each bowl.
Step 10.
For each bowl, cut a one foot long section of string and stick both ends through the hole you created. Tape down the ends to secure them.
Step 11.
Glue a pair of googly eyes onto the front of each bowl.
Step 12.
Tape a section of painted string onto the bottom of the bowl so that the painted sections of string hang down evenly.
Step 13.
Continue taping painted string onto each bowl until you have three different colors of string.
Step 14.
Hang your finished jellyfish in your child’s room or another dark place where they can enjoy them!
